PASTORAL PROFILE
GRACE. My spiritual calling is to preach and teach the gospel through the grace of our Lord Jesus. I bring skills and experience in preaching, teaching, pastoral care, discipling, visitation, and church growth. Most importantly, I seek to bring the mercy, favor, and hope of Christ for all.
EQUIPPED. I have experienced life as an ABCUSA pastor’s kid, husband and father, a 1st career engineer/manager for 12 years, active lay leader, seminarian, chaplain, pastor and now senior pastor. Personality tests describe me as inherently compassionate, intuitive, and loving with strengths in nurturing, teaching, and leadership. My many experiences find me both excited and well suited to follow God’s call to lead First Baptist in discerning and living out our ministry. I continue to feel both young and experienced, energetic and wise, well equipped and yet totally humbled to be called by God to shepherd First Baptist KC, MO as God’s flock.
PASTORAL STYLE: I lead with what is described as contagious enthusiasm. My work is equipping the saints – including you - for ministry and life as God intends. I seek to help us all discover who and whose we are, to journey together in Spirit, live in and with love, and I fully expect us all to experience positive changes. I lead pastorally with scriptural hope, personal relationships, a healthy and faithful congregational vision, preaching, pastoral care, and leadership development. Throughout, we will focus on individual spiritual growth for each child of God in our midst.
